Classic Supergirl 2.0 by dangerousladies Classic Supergirl 2.0 by dangerousladies
Remember classic Supergirl progress from well over a year ago?

Well, most of it was scrapped: the tunic was used for Power Girl mock-ups (that also never got done), the skirt was packed away for a year, the S was thrown out. I never thought I'd get around to redoing it all.

But I did!

I haven't measured the wingspan on this cape but I know it's larger than any other cape I've done. For now, anyway -- I plan to make Emmy a new eight-panel Batgirl cape.

This one will be premiering at Anime North on Saturday (aka the day after tomorrow).

Looking great. And Now I finally understand the photos from ages ago of what appeared to be a blue Power Girl. Doy! :)

Wow, what a wonderful cosplay of the 1984 Supergirl costume!

I'm quite happy to see this. I just...I do not care for Supergirl's current outfit. Or the fact that every teenager in a DC or Marvel book has an exposed midriff for that matter.

Yeah, to be honest, her current outfit is hit or miss for me -- there are artists who make it look good, and artists who make it look terrible. The classic costume tends to hit the spot more, though honestly, I find it a bit plain-looking.

Maybe someday I'll combine the two and do a modern costume without the midriff, haha.

I always liked how Amanda Conner drew Supergirl in her "Wednesday Comics" story. It had the angled gold cuffs on the sleeves and more of a "Belt" then a dividing line for the tunic.

And of course no midriff.

I liked that too -- and actually, on this costume, I made the body suit so that I could swap out the skirt with different styles as necessary to make different Supergirl costumes 8)
