If I remember correctly, the dress is a cotton suiting. The pleats are cotton sateen, which irons beautifully.
I used an old 1970s dress pattern for the bust, but it was so heavily altered in the waistline, neck and sides that I might as well have just drawn it out myself. I did the sleeves and skirt myself from scratch.
The skirt is one piece of fabric fused to one piece of flexifirm. Flexifirm is a heavy felt, so it stands out much like a lampshade. It's cool stuff.
